Quotes from the Pañcatantra
उद्योविनं पुरुषव ंहर्ुपैवि लक्ष्ीर्दैिेन र्देयवर्वि कमपुरुषम िर्दवति।
र्दैिं वनहत्य कुरु पौरुषर्मत्मशक्त्म यत्ने क ृ िे यवर्द न व द्ध्वि कोत्र र्दोष॥
udyoginaṁ puruṣasiṁhamupaiti lakṣmīrdaivena
deyamiti kāpuruṣā vadanti |
daīvaṁ nihatya kuru pauruṣamātmaśaktyā yatne kṛte
yadi na siddhyati ko'tra doṣaḥ ||
“Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, comes near the
industrious lion among men. Wretches say it (wealth)
is given by fate. Overcoming fate by power of self,
resort to manliness. If it is not achieved on making an
effort, then what is there for a blame?”
म्पत्तौ च विपत्तौ च र्हिमर्ेकऱूपिम
“In prosperity and adversity the great do not
lose their equilibrium.”
प्रमकमश्यं स्विुणोर्दयेन िुवणनो िच्छवति वकं जन्मनम
“Good people are noticed by their good qualities,
not by birth.”
