According to Sri Aurobindo, the recovery of the old spiritual knowledge and experience in all its splendour, depth and fullness is our first and most essential work for a true resurgence of Indian spirit. This recovery is not to be confined to intellectual or mental sphere, but it has to become a living force guiding all aspects of our life. As the Mother reminds us there are no two separate lives – spiritual life and ordinary life. Thus all life and work are to be taken up in the spirit of sādhanā.

This is the inmost significance of Indian spirituality since millennia. And this has to become once again the main inspiring motive-power for a new India – new, because it is a rebirth of the timeless Indian spirit. Outer work has true meaning only when it becomes a means to grow inwardly in our consciousness, when it is done as an offering to the Divine.

Remember and Offer

In this Sādhanā series, we feature a small prayer or meditation which expresses our aspiration that this be the mantra for our inner work, illuminating and purifying all our movements. This month we focus our aspiration on cultivating patience and perseverance, bringing our attention on the Mother’s meditation dated July 13, 1914:

Patience, strength, courage, calm and indomitable energy. . .
Let the mind learn to be silent, let it not be eager to profit immediately by the forces which come to us from Thee for the integral manifestation. . .
But why hast thou chosen for the expression of Thy Will the poorest element, the most mediocre, the most imperfect?. . .

(CWM, Vol. 1, p. 201)

We offer this outer and inner work into the collective yajñá for a true rebirth of the Indian soul. We pray that let it be a rebirth in which not only the Mind but the entire Life may begin to experience the touch of the Spirit.

Since August 2021 issue, we have also been featuring beautiful and meditative audio-visual creations by the group ‘Art Studio-12 Qualities‘ on the various soul-qualities. If you have missed, you can access them by clicking on Sincerity, Humility and Gratitude. This month, we bring another small offering from the same group, on the theme Perseverance.

Let us watch this film in silence and meditate with the words of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo.
